The deadline to submit an application was Tuesday, January 20. In addition to the application itself, candidates were asked to respond to a series of supplemental questions, as well as provide a Statement of Economic Interests – a form required by all elected officials and overseen by the California Fair Political Practices Commission.

The next step is for the candidates to provide a 10-minute presentation at a special City Council meeting on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at San Mateo City Hall. This meeting is open to the public and will be televised and video streamed. The successful appointee will be sworn in as a Council Member at the February 2nd City Council regular meeting and will serve through December 7th. Those interested in filling the remaining two-years of Ross’s four-year term, which expires in 2017, will have to be elected by San Mateo voters during this November’s general election.
