San Mateo's Top Cop To Address Misconduct In Virtual Town Hall

Police Chief Ed Barberini will address concerns over police misconduct, ask for public input.

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo Police Chief Police Chief Ed Barberini will address George Floyd’s death and concerns over police misconduct in a virtual town hall on Tuesday night.

The virtual town hall will be held on Zoom Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Barberini said Floyd’s death was “another reminder of how much work we must do to promote a society where everyone is afforded equitable treatment and protections under the law.”

“We are motivated every day to the constant improvement of the San Mateo Police Department, and as a law enforcement agency, those of us that serve our communities honorably, daily, are angry, disappointed, and frustrated when our noble profession is compromised by the actions of one.”

Barberini said he’s hoping input from the public can help his department improve.
