SMC Shooting Suspect Caught In Multi-City Pursuit: Police

Police found both a handgun and suspected methamphetamine inside the suspect's car, officials said.

EAST PALO ALTO — A 35-year-old man was arrested following a shooting over the weekend in East Palo Alto, police said.

The East Palo Alto Police Department announced Monday that Taje Jakkar Holliman was apprehended in Stockton after he was tracked across multiple counties.

At around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, police said they responded to reports of gunfire involving two cars. Shortly after, a separate emergency call led officers to a nearby home where they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound, police said.

Police said the suspect fled from East Palo Alto through Hayward, Tracy and into Stockton. A San Joaquin County Sheriff's Deputy eventually found Holliman in his car and arrested him.

During a search of the car, law enforcement found a handgun and suspected methamphetamine.

Holliman had only recently been released from state prison on April 1, and was under post-release community supervision at the time of the shooting, police said.

Both victims of the shooting survived and are currently listed in stable condition.

Holliman has been booked into the San Mateo County Jail as detectives continue to investigate the motive behind the attack, officials said.
