SMPD Issues Holiday Greeting, Thank You to the Community
"It is not lost on any of us here at SMPD how truly lucky we are to have the support in our community that we have..."

The following is a news release from the San Mateo Police Department:
Special Holiday Community Message from Your San Mateo Police Officers
The San Mateo Police Department wants to thank you – our community – for being an amazing partner here in our great City of San Mateo. Thank you for your vigilance in reporting suspicious activity and for being great witnesses when the need arose. Thank you for your compassion and your willingness to look out not only for you and your loved ones, but also your neighbors, united in our common goal to keep our neighborhoods safe. It is not lost on any of us here at SMPD how truly lucky we are to have the support in our community that we have, a bond and a relationship that grows stronger each and every year and for that we can’t thank you enough. We wish each and every one of you a happy and safe holiday season and we look forward to watching our neighborhood safety partnerships continue to flourish into the new year.
“On behalf of the men and women of San Mateo Police Department’s finest, we hope this holiday season is filled with joy and good cheer for you and your loved ones. We proudly dedicate ourselves to your well-being and safety each and every day - your Police Department is always on the job!” – Chief Susan Manheimer
It is important to remember that while the holiday season brings great joy to many families, it is also a time when other families struggle to make ends meet, with gifts for children as well as resources such as food and shelter always in demand this time of year. With the help of partnerships with the San Mateo Fire Department, San Mateo Police Activities League, our own Police Officers’ Association, and City of San Mateo Staff, as well as with community agencies like San Mateo Rotary, InnVision Shelter Network, the Samaritan House, Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center, the Downtown San Mateo Association, the San Mateo Unified Homeowner’s Association and the San Mateo Chamber of Commerce, we can identify and help fill some of those needs not just during the holiday season, but throughout the year to come. This past week we have again enjoyed seeing many of this needs fulfilled by our own Santa Cop who returned from the North Pole to hand out gifts throughout the city as well as attend Brunch with Santa this past weekend at the Dr. Martin Luther King Center. It’s truly those big smiles on the faces of our youngest community members that we treasure most each holiday season.
So, as 2015 grows closer, we hope all of you have taken the time to connect with us on both Twitter and Nixle, you’re first and best stop to stay connected to your San Mateo Police Department for community alerts, announcements, and all our press releases. If not, make that one of your new year’s resolutions and please continue to look out for each other, be safe, and have a wonderful Holiday Season!
All our best.
Your San Mateo Police Officers
