A team of social workers will help clients get services such as mental health help or housing assistance, according to a report.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA—The San Mateo County Private Defender Program has hired a social worker for a new position to help clients and attorneys find resources, the San Mateo Daily Journal reports.
Harpreet Samra, who has worked for the San Mateo County Public Defender's Office, will lead a team of social workers that will help clients get services such as mental health help, housing assistance, or immigration services. The San Mateo Daily Journal also reports Samra and her team will create training for lawyers so they can help their clients find these services in the future.
San Mateo County does not have a traditional public defender's office; private attorneys represent individuals through the Private Defender Program.
