'Well Below Average' Temps Expected In San Mateo: Weekend Weather Forecast

National Weather Service officials say there's a slight chance of showers in part of the Bay Area this weekend.

SAN MATEO, CA – Planning your weekend around the Bay Area? Though we're nearing summer, you can still expect some cooler temperatures.

"Temperatures will remain well below seasonal averages, especially inland, through the upcoming weekend," the National Weather Service said on Friday. "In addition, there is a slight chance of showers across the northern portion of the region Saturday with possible thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon."

Come next week, a gradual warming trend is expected.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. West northwest wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 52. West wind 7 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Saturday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 67. West wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Saturday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 52. West northwest wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Sunday
A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Sunday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 52.

Monday
Sunny, with a high near 68.
