Woman Identified Who Was Fatally Hit By Car In San Mateo: Police
The pedestrian was killed at an intersection, causing major traffic delays, police said.
SAN MATEO, CA — The coroner’s office released the identity Monday of the 62-year-old woman who was killed when she was hit by a car Friday in San Mateo.
The San Mateo County Coroner’s office identified the woman as Veronica Vasquez of Redwood City.
The fatal incident occurred at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of 17th Avenue and El Camino Real. The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Following the collision, police diverted northbound traffic on El Camino Real onto eastbound 17th Avenue and rerouted southbound traffic to West Borel Avenue. Officers cleared the scene and reopened all roadways by 1:36 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
