Young Slammers Win NorCal Tourney
The highly-successful team next heads to San Diego to compete.
The San Mateo Slammers 10U C Girls Fastpitch Softball Team this weekend won the NorCal ASA Qualifier Championship at Twin Creeks in Sunnyvale. The Slammers bested 26 other teams from Northern California in their bracket.
The team, coached by Dean Levitt, won five straight games, and beat The Foster City Flash in the championship game 7-3. Foster City finished in second place in the tournament.
This is not the girls' first tournament win this season. They won the San Carlos Tournament on Memorial Day weekend by winning seven straight games.

The victory in the NorCal ASA Qualifier places the Slammers into the California State Games in San Diego on August 5-7. Opening ceremonies are held Friday night, August 5th at 6:30pm at Qualcomm Stadium, home of the San Diego Chargers.
Also competing in the weekend tournament were the Millbrae Mischief, finishing in 16th place, the Redwood City Wicked, 17th place, the San Bruno Storm, 20th place, the San Carlos Force Black, in 24th place, and the Belmont Xplosion, who finished in 25th place.
