1 Injured In San Rafael Blaze
The fire damaged part of a single-story commercial building.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — A fire damaged part of a single-story commercial building in the Canal neighborhood on Wednesday, injuring one person, authorities said.
Firefighters responded at about 3:30 p.m. to the masonry building, which houses four businesses, and found the front portion of the street-facing unit fully engulfed in flames, the San Rafael Fire Department said.
One occupant inside when the fire started was able to escape but suffered minor burns and was treated at the scene by firefighter paramedics, according to firefighters.

The damaged unit is occupied by a construction firm and includes office space, a garage, storage, and a workshop.
Fire officials said an adjacent business sustained minor damage, but crews prevented the fire from spreading further.

The fire was brought under control at 4:45 p.m., and crews began salvage and property conservation efforts to stabilize the structure and help the other businesses resume operations, the fire department said.
