91-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed Crossing Street In Marin County: CHP

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP.

FAIRFAX, CA — A 91-year-old pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening after being struck by a car while crossing the street in Fairfax, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 6:45 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Shadow Creek Road following reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

CHP said a sedan was traveling westbound on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard when it struck the pedestrian, who was crossing the roadway in a northbound direction near Shadow Creek Road.

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP said.

The driver, a 22-year-old Martinez man, was not injured.

CHP said drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the collision, and no arrests were made.

The Marin County Coroner's Office responded to the scene. The pedestrian's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
