Advisory: Marin County's Current Flooding and Roadway Conditions

There is flooding in multiple locations throughout Marin County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – The Marin Area California Highway Patrol handled multiple flooding calls throughout its jurisdiction on Thursday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, as of 2:45 p.m. Thursday, US-101 has reported flooding in the following locations:

  • N/B and S/B directions between SR-131/Tiburon and Marin City
  • N/B and S/B directions between N. San Pedro Road and Freitas Pkwy
  • N/B offramp to Central San Rafael/Irwin Street
  • N/B and S/B directions in the area of Smith Ranch Road

The northbound US-101 off ramp to SR-1/Shoreline Highway is closed. SR-1 just south of Tomales is also closed.

In addition, flooding has been reported on SR-37 at Novato Creek as well as at the intersection of SR-121.

The California Highway Patrol is advising all drivers, especially evening commuters, to prepare for very slow drive times through Marin County. The agency is asking drivers to have patience and avoid rushing to their destinations.

Drivers: The California Highway Patrol is asking you to please remember to slow down, increase your following distance and give others around you plenty of space. Do your best to limit distractions in your vehicle and keep your eyes on the road as conditions may change suddenly. Also do not attempt to traverse flooded roadways. If you aren't sure if your vehicle can make it across a flooded road, please don't try.
