SAN RAFAEL, CA — Wesley, the 12-year-old golden retriever who went missing, was found but without a collar or any clues leading to the person who took him.
Wesley was spotted Tuesday night wandering without a collar in Novato, two days after a masked person led him away from his San Rafael home.
His owner, Cindy Pickens, still doesn't know who was hiding behind the mask.
Pickens shared home security video showing a masked person taking him.
The person who found Wesley recognized him from a Nextdoor post, according to Pickens. She said he was on Ignacio Boulevard.
But, she don't know who took them. "I am assuming because of all the social media posts, he didn't want to keep Wesley," Pickens told Patch.
The masked person took Wesley around 3:55 p.m. Sunday from Pickens' home on Prospect Drive near Grand Avenue in the Lincoln Hill neighborhood, according to Pickens and the neighborhood post.
Pickens said her home security camera recorded the person walking up her driveway, opening a gate, and leading Wesley away from a gated area.
The person wore a black hoodie, jeans, a hat, a mask, and gloves and carried a leash, according to the post.
Pickens described Wesley, a red golden retriever, as playful and friendly.
"He loves people," she told Patch.
