
Nominations in all award categories are now being accepted by Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership of Marin for the 19th annual Heart of Marin Awards to be held on Jan. 5, 2012 at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall in San Rafael.
Produced by Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership and presenting sponsor Union Bank, the Heart of Marin Awards recognizes outstanding Marin nonprofits and the committed individuals who serve them. Tickets for the awards ceremony and luncheon can now be purchased online or by contacting the Center.
Each year, the awards recognize outstanding achievement in the following categories: Volunteer of the Year, Excellence in Board Leadership, Excellence in Leadership, Achievement in Nonprofit Excellence, Excellence in Innovation, Corporate Community Service, and Youth Volunteer of the Year. Winners in each of the first five categories will be awarded $5,000 each for their organizations. Additionally, up to five youth will be presented with $1,000.

Panels will evaluate nominations and select award recipients in the above categories. All nominees and recipients will be honored at the Jan. 5 event, which will be emceed by popular film critic Jan Wahl of KCBS FM/AM and KRON 4.
“Every year I attend this event my sense of appreciation and gratitude for the nominees leaves me humbled and enlightened,” says Linda Davis, the Center’s CEO. “There is no other feeling like being in a room of 750 people where the sole purpose of the gathering is to recognize these committed and passionate individuals. I look forward to this event like no other”.

In addition to presenting sponsor Union Bank, each award is sponsored as follows: Brayton Purcell, LLP (Volunteer of the Year); Kaiser Permanente, San Rafael (Excellence in Board Leadership); Marin Community Foundation (Excellence in Leadership); Autodesk and Redwood Credit Union (Achievement in Nonprofit Excellence); Dominican University of California (Excellence in Innovation); Bregante + Company LLP, CPA, (Corporate Community Service); and Bank of Marin (Youth Volunteer of the Year).
