Avoid tax gotchas in settling estates

An expert in estate tax will share how, at this month's CalCPA luncheon in Marin

Want to know more about what the Internal Revenue services considers to be valid criteria for gift tax deductions? Learn from an estate tax expert while lunching with tax and legal professionals, Wed., Mar. 18, when the Marin Chapter of CalCPA hosts its next event.


The luncheon sponsored by the California Society of CPAs Marin Chapter will run from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m., and will feature estate planning attorney James O’Brien as the speaker. Mr. O’Brien will discuss how to avoid estate and gift tax audits, valuation issues, and potential penalties.


Mr. O’Brien specializes in irrevocable trusts, closely held businesses and multi-generational succession planning. He also addresses tax issues, including federal and state tax compliance within his practice.
