Barge Fire Doesn't Quell Marin County Fair Fireworks
Smoldering fireworks were discovered on a barge in the Civic Center lagoon following one of the fireworks shows.

San Rafael, CA — Thousands enjoyed the Marin County Fair fireworks over the Fourth of July holiday, despite a barge fire believed to be sparked by fireworks on Thursday, July 30.
San Rafael Fire Department's Engine 57 — led by Capt. Winner — was called to the Civic Center lagoon for a fire on a barge early the morning of Friday, July 1, according to a July 8 newsletter from SRFD Chief Christopher Gray.
Upon arrival, crews found material on one of the four barges was smoldering after a fireworks show at the Marin County Fair.

Access to the area was difficult but Engine 57 was finally able to utilize a small boat owned by the fairgrounds to get to the barge and fully extinguish the fire.
Fireworks displays went on as normal for the remainder of the fair.
