Business Spotlight: Zebra Furniture

San Anselmo will have to share this border-straddling custom furniture store.

42 Red Hill Ave, San Anselmo
(formerley of 727 Francisco Blvd E, San Rafael)
(415) 453-6078

Who are they?
Dave Badler grew up in Los Angeles, graduated college and became a special education teacher.  After four years in that position, he left when he got an opportunity to become a furniture sales rep. Badler was a sales rep for three years, at which time he decided to open his own store with his wife, Teresa. After running a successful furniture store for four years, they got tired of L.A. and decided to move north to Marin where they opened their first store.

Teresa graduated from Oklahoma University where she majored in speech pathology. She moved to California where she worked as a speech specialist for Los Angeles Unified Schools, where she met Dave. They have one son.

How long have they been there?

Why are they in our Business Spotlight?
Zebra is unique because they offer their customers the ability to design their own sofa or sectional. Expertly crafted pieces stand in stark contrast to cookie-cutter IKEA counterparts. The ability to buy something locally made and beautifully rendered is a rare gift that San Rafael (er, San Anselmo -- it really is on the border though) should be grateful to have.
