We are going to demystify the complex rhythms of the Salsa orchestra, unlock the fluid mechanics of authentic Latin body isolation, and teach you how to actually feel the music. Whether you want to dance with more confidence, find your unique flavor, or simply connect deeper to the rhythm, you are in the right place.
“We dance&nbsp;because&nbsp;of the music”- let’s discover what that really means!
A three part workshop:
Body Movement and Isolation Workout
Starting from the head and working all the way to the feet, we’ll explore body isolations and learn how to combine them into movement that feels natural, expressive and uniquely yours! This full body warm- up increases mobility, builds strength and prepares you to move with greater confidence.
MUSICALITY
We’ll listen to and dance with different Afro-Cuban rhythms-including salsa, rumba, son and cha cha to develop a deeper understanding of musical structure.&nbsp;Learn to recognize rhythm, phrasing and instrumentation so you can respond naturally to the music and develop your own style.
Putting It All Together!
We’ll apply everything you’ve learned through fundamental footwork, rhythm exercises and add in partner concepts. Whether you dance “On 1”, “On 2”, Cuban Casino, Rueda or simply love moving your body to great music, you’ll discover new ways to listen, interpret and express what you hear…and experience dance in a whole new way

Dance has been my creative outlet for as long as I can remember. Since discovering Latin Dance in 2010, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the connection between music, movement, and emotional expression.
Join me as we explore movement, musicality, and timing while building confidence, improving technique, and celebrating the joy of dance.

Come enjoy great music and a message of hope as we explore favorite Broadway musicals and deeper spiritual themes in our annual “God on Broadway” series.&nbsp; Shows in this year’s series are: "The Lion King” (August 2), “Man of La Mancha” (August 9), “The Music Man” (August 16), and “Maybe Happy Ending” (August 23).&nbsp; Our pianist/composer John Steiner and guest musicians will perform songs from each production.
Rev. Cynthia Cochran-Carney will explore meaningful and humorous connections between Broadway shows and biblical stories, saying “The arts inform all aspects of our lives, including our spiritual lives.Many of the musicals look at challenging social issues, including racism, poverty, exploitation, and diversity.&nbsp; In this time of polarization and division, the arts can open us up to see joys and challenges from someone else’s perspective.”
Sing, laugh and learn valuable life lessons with us in the sanctuary on Sundays in August at 9:30 am at First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, 1510 Fifth Avenue.&nbsp; The building is handicap accessible.&nbsp; The services are live streamed on YouTube.

Pop Star Michelle Lambert Plays Marin Art & Garden Center’s Redwood Amphitheater!

This summer, Acterra is proud to present the 2026 Marin Green@Home Tours! This is a free, community-powered event that invites the public to explore innovative, electrified homes. On Saturday, August 29th, from 11AM to 3PM, explore homes throughout Marin County, ranging from new construction to those transitioning away from gas. Gain valuable insights from tour hosts on appliance selection, contractor decisions, installation processes, tax credits, and incentives, making your transition to electric living informed and cost-effective.
