Connect With Local Government, Nonprofits At Marin Volunteer Fair
The second annual Marin Volunteer Fair is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, at Lagoon Park in San Rafael.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Want to give back to Marin? The second annual Marin Volunteer Fair is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, at Lagoon Park in San Rafael.
Hosted by the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership, the event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Children's Island.
Two County of Marin departments – Human Resources and Marin County Parks – are slated to participate in the volunteer fair. Human Resources' Marin Shares volunteer group and Marinterns program for students, along with cohorts from Marin County Parks, will offer ways for residents to connect with local county government.

The Marin County Civil Grand Jury is also slated to participate in the volunteer fair. All 58 California counties have a civil grand jury, an independent "watchdog" investigative body designed to monitor the performance of local government and make recommendations. Volunteers serve a one-year term on the civil grand jury.
Attendees will also be able to connect with local nonprofits. Some of the nonprofits scheduled to participate include San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, Ceres Community Project, Whistlestop, Halleck Creek Ranch, Community Action Marin, and National Park Service / Point Reyes National Seashore.

There will be trivia, arts and crafts, planting native plants, storytelling, and other activities for children. Lunch and other refreshments will be available at food trucks.
