Davidson Principal and History Students Add Teaching Innovation

San Rafael teens answer USA Proud Learning call-to-action, celebrating Marin County Founding. 2016 State Board approved teaching innovation

100 San Rafael students at historic Davidson Middle School answered the call-to-action to help expand USA Proud Learning by celebrating "Marin Founders Day" on Friday March 1.
Principal Bob Marcucci asked, "How was Marin County Founded?"

8th grade US History students welcomed Riccardo Gaudino of Golden State History, and Alejandra Cervantes of La Nuestra Voz for their leadership: serving cake and berries at lunch for planting the seeds of Pacific knowledge to grow teen preparedness for community awareness.
Working together, all joined in the Photo-In-History for the community service to inspire schools statewide. The 2016 State Board of Education approved the teaching innovation of "Around the Horn" and "President Polk 1846 Year of Decision" history standards.

About the presentation: Riccardo Gaudino, Golden State Historian - Education Director,
"Great to deliver the learning experience. It is wonderful to serve Davidson Middle School that has deep roots with San Rafael families. By celebrating, we hope to inspire teens in exploring how transportation routes founded counties and towns of our Golden Pacific Frontier Region in 8th grade US History. Will need more cake servers with students as volunteers."
