Deadline To Appeal Your Assessment Is Nov. 30

Disagree with the assessed value of your property? File an appeal with the Marin County Assessment Appeals Board.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Property owners who disagree with the assessed value on their property tax bill have until next week to file an appeal. The deadline to file an appeal with the Marin County Assessment Appeals Board is 5 p.m. Nov. 30.

The Assessment Appeals Board hears appeals from Marin residents about the value of their homes. The board is governed by the rules and regulations of the state's Board of Equalization and Property Tax Laws.

Residents are required to fill out an application for each assessor's parcel or property identification number. There is a $50 non-refundable processing fee for each application.

The form and instructions to appeal an assessment are available online. Forms are also available in the Board of Supervisors' office at the Marin County Civic Center, located at 3501 Civic Center Drive, Suite 329, San Rafael.
