Downed Power Lines Cleared At San Rafael Intersection That Left Thousands Without Power: PG&E

The intersection was closed as PG&E crews worked to assess damage and restore electricity.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Downed power lines closed an intersection in San Rafael Wednesday morning and left more than 3,000 customers without electricity, authorities said.

At 12:18 p.m., the San Rafael Police Department stated the intersection of Point San Pedro Road and Loch Lomond Drive is back open and the downed power lines had been cleared.

First responders were called to Point San Pedro Road and Loch Lomond Drive after the lines came down, police said at around 11:20 a.m.

The intersection was closed and traffic control was in place, police said. Drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible and to treat intersections without working traffic signals as four-way stops.

PG&E crews were at the scene assessing the electrical system and determining what repairs were needed to restore power.

PG&E reported the outage at 10:58 a.m. Wednesday and estimated that 3,198 customers were affected. The utility company is reporting the power has been restored to the affected area.

Residents were urged not to call 911 to report the power outage.
