Enriching Lives through Music (ELM) is a nonprofit music education program in San Rafael. We believe that access to mastery in the arts is a right, not a privilege, and talent is equally distributed but opportunity is not. ELM is committed to addressing this inequity.

In addition to our daily orchestra program for students ages 8-18, we are committed to increasing access to high quality music experiences for our students who show commitment, drive, and talent. Our elmCATS (Community of Artists, Teachers and Scholars) program provides a pathway for dedicated, motivated students to deepen ELM’s impact through a private lesson program that includes: weekly private lessons, chamber music, access to music festivals and summer camps, upgraded instruments, and mentoring, outreach community performances, and community service opportunities.

Each spring we host a recital to showcase the progress of our elmCAT students at the beautiful Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley. This year we'll have two concerts on Sunday, May 3, 2026: one at 2pm which will feature our younger string students (violin, viola, and cello) and woodwinds (flute, clarinet, and oboe) and another at 4:30pm with our older string students and our brass students (trumpet and trombone.) It's a beautiful afternoon of chamber music and individual performances by our most dedicated, motivated students.
