Free Youth Fly Fishing Clinic and BBQ

The North Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Western Sportshop, Inc. of San Rafael are presenting the 9th annual First Cast Day, a free fly fishing clinic and barbecue for young people 8 to 18 years old.

Participants will learn fly casting, spin casting, fly tying, knots, reading the stream, and much more with plenty of hands-on practice.  The event will have separate learning stations for these practices with skilled instructors guiding the participants.  Last year's event drew more than 60 young people.

The new location this year will be the Civic Center Lagoon picnic area on the South Side of the lagoon near the playground off Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.
