Saturday night the 28th of January at 7:00 PM, we will be screening Bustin' Down The Door the award winning 2008 Surf Movie that follows the rise of Australia as a Surfing Super Power breaking the previous stranglehold of Hawaiian Surfers on the professional Surfing circuit. The film follows a group of young surfers from Australia and South Africa, including Shaun Tomson, Wayne 'Rabbit' Bartholomew, Ian Cairns, Mark Richards, Michael Tomson, and Peter Townend, as they relocate to Hawaii encountering obstacles, turf wars, and massive wipeouts along the way. Immediately following the movie we will feature a Question & Answer session with Kanga himself.
Ian Cairns is a living legend in the world of surfing. Ian, also known as Kanga, is a hall of fame surfer who was the driving force in establishing what today is the world professional surfing circuit and in particular the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Championship Tour. Ian is the current US Surfing team head coach, which recently celebrated winning the Gold Medal at the 2011 International Surfing Association Word Championships.
