Fire Sparks At Taj Of Marin Restaurant In San Rafael
BREAKING: The fire started in the kitchen of the restaurant at 909 Fourth Street.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Firefighters extinguished a fire Tuesday at the Taj of Marin restaurant in San Rafael.
The fire started in the kitchen of the restaurant at 909 Fourth Street and spread through ducts to the roof, Fire Chief Chris Gray said. The blaze was reported around 4:15 p.m.
The restaurant was closed at the time but employees were still inside and tried to put out the fire with extinguishers, Gray said.

Grease buildup in the kitchen ducts may have caused the fire, Gray said.
Fourth Street was closed between Cijos and A streets, and Lootens Place was closed from Fifth Avenue to Third Street, police said around 4:30 p.m. Streets have since been reopened.
