Firefighters Conduct Controlled Burn In Marin County

Smoke may be visible from nearby communities, fire officials said.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — The Marin County Fire Department is slated to conduct a controlled burn Friday near Marinwood, an unincorporated community in Marin.

The burn is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the hillsides near Highway 101 and the St. Vincent property, according to the department. Smoke may be visible from nearby communities, including the areas of Marinwood and San Rafael.

Fire officials asked the public to not report the prescribed burn to 911.

"We promote controlled burns to help reduce calls to our emergency dispatchers about the sight or smell of smoke," the department said in an advisory.
