FIRESafe Marin To Host Home Hardening Workshops
Homeowners and building industry professionals in Marin can learn about fire-resistant materials during free Home Hardening Seminars.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Now that wildfire season is a year-round event in California, concerned homeowners are seeking to increase the odds that their residence will be spared instead of reduced to ash in the next blaze.
Homeowners and building industry professionals in Marin County can learn about fire-resistant materials during free Home Hardening Seminars Tuesday, Nov. 19, at Embassy Suites in San Rafael.
There will be two workshops hosted by FIRESafe Marin. Building industry professionals can attend the 2-4 p.m. session and homeowners can attend the 6-8 p.m. session. Both workshops will take place at Embassy Suites, 101 McInnis Parkway, in San Rafael.

Attendees will get to learn from building scientists and wildfire experts about what makes a building vulnerable to fire and how to reduce the risk that a home will ignite.
The Marin County Fire Department will have representatives at both sessions. Firefighters will illustrate how fire-resistant materials can help fend off flames as compared with ordinary construction materials.

At 5 p.m., people attending either session will have an opportunity to watch firefighters oversee a live burn demonstration at the Marin County Fairgrounds, just a short walk from Embassy Suites.
