San Rafael, CA – Michael’s Custom Built Upholstery announced today that effective January 27, 2014, they will be offering their clientele poly foam that is free of flame retardant chemicals.
 
California Technical Bulletin 117 (TB117), originally adopted in 1975 required furniture manufacturers to use foam products that had been injected with flame retardant chemicals. The new regulation, California Technical Bulletin 117-2013 (TB117-2013) replaces the 1975 standard. As of January 1, 2014, manufacturers can discontinue the use of components treated with flame retardant chemicals. The new standard does not ban chemicals from being used, but it no longer mandates that the chemicals be present.
