Gas Leak Prompts Road Closures In San Rafael
Authorities advised the public to avoid the area.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A natural gas leak prompted road closures Monday afternoon in San Rafael, authorities said.
The San Rafael Fire Department tweeted about the gas leak around noon. Fifth Avenue between Irwin Street and Grand Avenue was closed, according to San Rafael fire and police officials.
By 1:20 p.m., Pacific Gas and Electric Company had secured the damaged one-inch service line, fire officials said.

Roads have since reopened.
PG&E has secured the damaged gas line. Streets should be opening up shortly.
