ICB Winter Open Studios takes flight December 4, 5 & 6

"Migration: A movement of Hope" is the theme for the 47th ICB Winter Open Studios in Sausalito where over 80 artist are under one roof.

This year during Winter Open Studios the artists at the ICB in Sausalito will be honoring the courageous act of migration—animals and people who, against all odds, leave their homes en masse in search of light, of better lives. To symbolize this movement of hope, the ICB will feature an installation of thousands of butterflies hand-cut in a joint effort by resident artists under the direction of paper artist Ingrid Butler. And in humble recognition of this, many ICB artists will donate proceeds of designated art sales to Doctors Without Borders.

This tribute to resilience, renewal, metamorphosis, and freedom will be awe-inspiring to adults and children alike.
At least 30 participating individual artists will designate a selected work for sale, with 100% from the sale of these pieces to benefit Doctors Without Borders. This collective effort of individuals is in support of the Doctors Without Borders work with refugees and internally displaced persons affected by conflict around the world.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was founded on the belief that all people have the right to medical care regardless of gender, race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. In more than 60 countries around the world, MSF saves lives by providing medical aid where it is needed most, from armed conflicts to epidemics, natural disasters, and other crisis situations.

And another phenomenon not found anywhere else in the Bay Area—a hundred artists working under the roof of an historic waterfront building that created and launched liberty ships during WWII. Years hence painters, sculptors, photographers, jewelers, fiber artists and other visionaries have flocked to the ICB to engage in that same productive spirit.

Winter Open Studios will be all aflutter with butterflies and great art. Come out of the cold and enjoy.
