, a dredging and construction company based in San Rafael, added a new (and large) dredging ship to it's fleet.

“This ship will be a welcome addition to our fleet and its size will allow us greater flexibility in our operations,” President and CEO Bill Dutra said.

The 372-feet-long, 72-feet-wide vessel is the second largest of its kind in the United States, according to Dutra. Its name is the Stuyvesant.

The Dutra Group, comprised of four companies that deal with dredging, construction, materials and equipment, has constructed projects all over California, including deepening Oakland Harbor and renovating the Marina West Harbor in San Francisco.

The group maintains clear and navigable water channels, performs emergency repair work and conducts other activities for private and public customers.

“We are excited and proud that the addition of the Stuyvesant to the national hopper dredge fleet will bring significant and needed dredging capacity to strengthen the flow of goods and cargo from our nation’s ports," Dutra said.
