Man With Loaded Gun Arrested Near San Rafael Transit Center

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A man with a loaded gun was arrested Monday near the San Rafael Transit Center, police announced Tuesday.

A patrol officer spotted a man and a woman fighting and approached the pair around 4:18 p.m. near the transit center, according to the San Rafael Police Department.

"The woman was shouting and the man was holding her against a wall," San Rafael police Sgt. Lisa Holton said. "Both admitted to having an argument, but denied any violence had taken place."

A records check showed that the man, identified as 19-year-old Joshua Berry, had an outstanding arrest warrant for contempt of court. Holton said he "actively resisted arrest" when officers attempted to take him into custody.

"Once handcuffed, officers searched him and found a loaded 9mm pistol in the pocket of his sweatpants," Holton said.

Police arrested Berry, who is from Marin City, on suspicion of having an outstanding warrant, carrying a loaded and concealed weapon, and resisting arrest. He was booked into Marin County Jail.
