Marin Civic Center Hosts National Voter Registration Day Tuesday
Marin County ranks near the top in voter participation, but officials are hoping to reach thousands of eligible voters who are unregistered.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — The Marin County Elections Department invites residents to participate in National Voter Registration Day and verify they are all set to cast ballots ahead of Election Day on Nov. 5.
For the third year running, elections staffers will be outside the Civic Center on Tuesday with members of the League of Women Voters of Marin County and Canal Alliance to help provide visitors with information about how to check their voter registration information.
While Marin County boasts a 94 percent voter registration rate and ranks among California's best for voter turnout, elections officials hope to reach the estimated 20,000 residents who are eligible to vote but have not registered. Other voters may be registered but have moved or changed their names and need to update their records.
