Marin General Hospital Earns Lantern Award

The local hospital was one of 19 hospitals nationwide recognized for exceptional and innovative performance.

GREENBRAE, CA – Marin General Hospital has received the Emergency Nurses Association's 2018 Lantern Award. The local hospital was one of 19 hospitals nationwide recognized for demonstrating exceptional and innovative performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.

The Lantern Award showcases the Emergency Department's accomplishments in incorporating evidence-based practice and innovation into emergency care, according to Marin General Hospital. The award also serves as a visible symbol of its commitment to quality, safety and a healthy work environment.

"The Marin General Hospital Emergency Department Team has worked very hard over the last several years to improve the quality of care, safety, patient experience and excellence in all of our programs," Michelle Tracy, director of Emergency and Trauma Services at Marin General Hospital, said in a statement.

"It is an honor to be recognized as one of the exemplary emergency departments in the nation with this award. It validates for us that the care and service that we are providing as a community hospital is as competitive as larger distinguished facilities. We are proud to be able to serve our community members in this capacity."

The award will be on display in Marin General Hospital's Emergency Department. In addition, the hospital will be recognized in the Emergency Nurses Association's upcoming publications, on the association's website and during the association's annual conference.

"We're excited to bestow 19 emergency departments with the Lantern Award this year," Jeff Solheim, president of the Emergency Nurses Association, said in a statement. "The Lantern Award acts as a visible symbol to patients that the receiving emergency department values excellence and delivers exceptional care. It shines a light on that emergency department’s commitment to providing safe practice and safe care. These departments truly deserve this year’s award.”
