Stowaway Cat Might Face Adoption
The unclaimed kitten took an unexpected journey to Santa Cruz and is back in Marin. However, her owners have yet to claim her.

Marin Humane Society personnel are continuing their search for the owner of a stowaway kitten this week.
The cat, believed to be about 1 year old, returned to Marin County earlier this month after she took an unexpected trip to Santa Cruz in the engine compartment of a van, Marin Humane Society spokesman John Reese said.
Reese said it appears the cat crawled into the engine compartment while the van was parked near a McDonald's restaurant in Strawberry.

The driver of the van left for Santa Cruz and found the kitten, meowing but safe, inside the van.
Last weekend she was returned to Marin County, where she is "resting, comfortable and in good shape," Reese said.

The cat is a "torbie", with a mottled brown and orange coat, and was wearing a collar but had no identification, Reese said.
Reese said the cat had clearly been well taken care of and hopes that she will be returned to her owner soon.
Animal workers have posted fliers around the Strawberry area and are hoping for a happy reunion.
The humane society will wait until Sunday for the owner to claim her -- if she is still unclaimed at that point, she will be put up for adoption.
"She's really an adorable little cat," Reese said. "She'll be an excellent adoption candidate."
