Marin Symphony Waterfront Pops Concert

Great Family Event - Outdoor Waterfront Pops Concert Featuring Movie Music Favorites including: Frozen, Spiderman, Titanic and more!

Marin Symphony’s Love it LIVE! 14/15 Season kicks off on Saturday, September 13, 2014, with Maestro Alasdair Neale conducting our second annual Waterfront Pops outdoor concert, Hooray for Hollywood! Celebrate movie music favorites and summer with us — a perfect place to gather with your family and friends. Come early to stake out your place and enjoy fun activities including our musical instrument petting zoo sponsored by The Magic Flute, cultural exhibits and much more. A spectacular fireworks display will accompany the final piece.

Bring a picnic. Bring your family and friends. Bring your own chairs and a blanket to keep warm as the sun sets. Bring your aspiring young music directors to take part in Alasdair Neale’s Junior Conductors training (and, they’ll join him to conduct the opening piece after intermission!). Savor a new and improved offering of food by Off the Grid and beverages for purchase including beer from Lagunitas Brewing, at the Marin Center Lagoon Park!

Alasdair Neale and his Junior Conductors will lead the orchestra performing the Rodestsky March to start the second half of the concert. After intermission, the Symphony is excited to highlight members of note from our local community. They’ll honor an outstanding music educator in Marin with a first-ever Marin Symphony Teacher of the Year Award. Ron Ramin, an award-winning classical music composer who lives in Mill Valley and has written hundreds of musical scores for television and movies. The world premiere of his work entitled “Greetings” opens the final set of movie music — a beautiful fanfare for orchestra that in his words… “welcomes the listener to the concert in a joyous and rousing manner.”
