Massive Marin Rally Protests Authoritarianism, ICE And War

Over 1,500 residents gathered for a major demonstration, joining a worldwide day of action against the Trump administration's policies.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — More than 1,500 people filled San Rafael’s City Plaza on Saturday afternoon for the "No Kings, No ICE, No War" rally, contributing to a global mobilization

Organized by Marin DSA and Fuerzas Unidas, the two-hour event drew participants from across the county, protesting what they claim is the Trump administration's authoritarianism, ICE enforcement, and military conflicts. It was one of over 20 simultaneous protests held across Marin and was part of a coordinated national and international day of action.

Speakers addressed the crowd on a range of issues, including immigrant rights, labor organizing, the wars in Iran and Gaza, and the erosion of democratic institutions.

"Fighting against is never enough. We have to fight for something; a society that is fairer, more equal, and truly democratic, where wealth doesn't buy political power, and people always come before profit,” said Sonia Parecadan, Co-Chair of Marin DSA.

Several speakers addressed pressing issues, including Fuerzas Unidas organizers, who focused on the threat of ICE raids in Marin. Iliana Madrigal of the North Bay Labor Council emphasized the labor movement's interest in the demands, while Carol Underwood of Marin DSA spoke on U.S. military aggression. Additionally, author and activist Normal Solomon from RootsAction discussed the US-supported Israeli actions in Gaza.
