Power Restored To Marin County's PG&E Customers

With the exception of 11 customers, power has been restored to customers in Marin impacted by the planned shutoff, according to PG&E.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — With the exception of nearly a dozen customers, power has been restored to PG&E customers in Marin County impacted by the Public Safety Power Shutoff, according to the utility company.

As of 1 p.m. Friday, PG&E's online outage map showed just 11 customers were without power in the county: three customers in Bolinas and eight customers in Fairfax.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Power has been restored to thousands of Marin County customers impacted by Pacific Gas and Electric Company's Public Safety Power Shutoff, while hundreds of others remain in the dark.

PG&E's shutoffs began Wednesday and continued throughout Thursday, prompted by dry, hot and windy weather in Northern and Central California. About 738,000 customers in 34 counties were impacted throughout the state, including thousands in Marin.

The utility company warned about 9,855 customers in Marin they could lose power. The impacted areas included Bolinas, Fairfax, Mill Valley, Muir Beach, Olema, Sausalito and Stinson Beach.

Power has been restored in Sausalito, where 2,432 customers had no power Thursday.

As of Friday morning, 1,622 customers still had no power in Marin, according to PG&E's outage map:

  • 853 customers in Bolinas
  • 8 customers in Fairfax
  • 243 customers in Mill Valley
  • 518 customers in Stinson Beach

Power Restorations

PG&E crews started safety inspections, repairs and restoration efforts in much of the affected areas as weather conditions improved Thursday.

By late Thursday evening, power had been restored to about 426,000 customers. Roughly 312,000 customers remained without power.

The utility has 44 helicopter crews and more than 6,300 personnel conducting safety patrols and inspections. Crews have so far found 11 instances of weather-related damage to the company's system in the impacted areas, according to PG&E.

Closures

The following schools in Marin remained closed Friday due to the shutoffs:

  • Bolinas School and Stinson Beach School in the Bolinas-Stinson Union School District
  • Mount Tamalpais School (private school)

The Marin Headlands Visitor Center, Muir Woods National Monument, Muir Beach and Overlook, and Stinson Beach also remained closed Friday, according to the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Safety Resources

PG&E's community resource center in Marin will be open at 8 a.m. Friday at Marin Gateway Shopping Center at 150 Donohue St. in Sausalito.
