The Salvation Army Collects PPE For Marin County First Responders

The nonprofit is collecting new, unopened boxes of N95 masks, surgical and/or isolation masks, disposable gowns and latex gloves.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — The Salvation Army is working to protect first responders in Marin and Sonoma counties during the coronavirus emergency by collecting personal protective equipment, or PPE. In San Rafael, The Salvation Army is working with the Marin County Emergency Operations Center to collect new, unopened boxes of N95 masks, surgical and/or isolation masks, disposable gowns and latex gloves.

The donated items will go to area first responders, such as doctors and nurses, according to Samantha Jarosz, spokesperson for The Salvation Army.

"Handmade masks will not be collected," Jarosz said. "The county wants to make sure the public knows they are not asking anyone to go out and buy new PPE to donate or to give their last mask out of their disaster kits. This effort is to try and obtain existing, excess inventory only."

"Upon arrival, please notify the office and fill out a donation log," Jarosz said. "If you have questions, please call 415-448-6507."
