San Rafael High School Presents "A Midsummer Night's Rock 'n' Roll Dream"

Especially adapted for San Rafael High School, the fall production is a raucous Shakespearean revel.

Over 30 San Rafael High School students will be performing in “A Midsummer Night’s Rock ’n’ Roll Dream,” a simplified and shortened musical version of Shakespeare’s popular comedy complete with hits from the fifties and sixties. Boomers will want to bring their children and grandchildren to this production!

Most of the play takes place in a magical forest populated by mischievous fairies who are always ready for a song or dance. Two Athenian couples find themselves falling in and out love courtesy of a love potion that works for and against them; even the fairy queen falls victim to the potion and finds herself head over heels for a very unusual being. Meanwhile, six would-be actors meet in the forest to rehearse a play they hope to present on the Duke’s wedding day. They are hoping for high drama. They get hijinks.

Directed by Joan Deamer with additional direction by Marcos Cortez; choreography by June Cooperman; adaptation by Courtney Flavin.
