Hitched to Everything: The Amazing Manzanita and Beautiful Buckeye
Come help celebrate California Native Plant Week. Learn about life in California's oak woodlands.
As part of the 5th Annual Native Plant Week come hear Kate Marianchild, author of the recently published Secrets of the Oak Woodlands: Plants and Animals among California’s Oaks. She will give an illustrated lecture; basing her talk on John Muir’s famous saying, “When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe,” Marianchild will discuss the survival strategies of common manzanita and California buckeye as well as their relationships with birds, mammals, insects, fungi, and lichens. The presentation will be illustrated with lovely images of these stunning plants and leavened with Marianchild’s humor as well as her excitement about her subject matter.
