UPDATED: Shooting Reported Outside San Rafael Safeway

A transient has been arrested in connection to the assault.

UPDATE:

San Rafael police arrested a transient Wednesday night on suspicion of assault with a firearm and making a criminal threat in the Safeway parking lot on B Street, a police lieutenant said.

Officer George Schikore heard rapid gunshots in the area of Andersen Drive near Albert Park around 11:20 p.m., Lt. Raffaello Pata said.

Officers responded and found a witness who saw a suspect standing outside a dark-colored parked car and arguing with someone inside the vehicle in the parking lot at 700 B Street, Pata said.

The witness said he heard the suspect threaten to kill the person in the car, then heard shots, Pata said.

A suspect, identified as Pierre Saucer, 32, fled but was contacted by officers and was arrested for assault with the firearm criminal threats, resisting or obstructing arrest and committing a felony while out in bail for another shooting, Pata said.

Saucer has no fixed address in San Rafael, Pata said.

Officers found spent bullet casings where Saucer was standing, but the vehicle, the weapon and the victim were not found, Pata said. The incident is under investigation, Pata said.

SAN RAFAEL, CA- Police responded to a shooting in a Safeway parking lot late Wednesday night, they are reporting.

San Rafael police officers responded around 11:20 p.m. to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of the Safeway at 700 B St. and located a suspect.

Police did not say if there was an arrest.

No injuries were immediately reported.
