Strong Winds Damage Power Pole, Cause Delays In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL, CA – Strong winds split a power pole and closed surrounding roads Monday in San Rafael.

The power pole was damaged on Las Galinas Avenue, south of Lucas Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Crews from Pacific Gas and Electric Company responded to the scene, along with officials from the San Rafael Police Department and Marinwood Fire Department.

Authorities said motorists should expect delays in the area as some roads were closed. Officials reminded the public to treat intersections as four-way stop signs if traffic lights are not working.

San Rafael police said motorists should avoid the area and use alternate routes.
