Student Arrested For Shooting Threats Against San Rafael Schools

The threats were against two separate schools.

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A sixth-grade student was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening two San Rafael schools, authorities said.

Staff at James B. Davidson Middle School at 280 Woodland Ave. notified resource officer Michael Mathis Thursday that a student made threatening statements on a school bus Wednesday afternoon regarding a shooting at two schools, San Rafael police Sgt. Lisa Holton said.

"Several witnesses reported the incident to their parents, who then notified school officials," Holton said.

San Rafael police confirmed the family does not own any weapons, and the student does not have access to firearms, Holton said.

The student was placed into Marin County Juvenile Hall, and he was referred to the Marin County Juvenile Probation Department for making criminal threats, Holton said.

"The San Rafael Police Department and San Rafael City School District take school safety seriously," Holton said.
