Survey: Marin Seeks Feedback On How To Spend $2M In Grants
Marin County officials are seeking the public's input on how to spend $2.2 million in state and federal grants.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin County officials are seeking the public's input on how to spend $2.2 million in state and federal grants.
The county's Community Development Agency and Department of Health and Human Services said the money will be distributed to nonprofits and local governments to support affordable housing, public service projects and capital improvements for infrastructure of community centers, health clinics and parks.
"This is the time to help us better understand the concerns of residents," said Molly Kron, a planner with the Community Development Agency. "Just 10 minutes of time to provide feedback would be invaluable to us and potentially lead to positive changes in the areas that are of most concern."

Marin County's Countywide Priority Setting Committee advises the Board of Supervisors on grant spending for projects and programs that benefit some of the county's lowest-income residents. The committee also oversees the distribution of federal money through Community Development Block Grants and HOME Investment Partnerships Program grants.

The Board of Supervisors holds a public hearing on all of the committee's recommendations each May and sends a priority list of projects to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Marin recruited two new members of the committee in September and needs one more member from the Fairfax, Ross, San Anselmo and adjacent unincorporated neighborhoods. Recruitment for the third member ends Oct. 11. Candidates should apply to the Community Development Agency's federal grants website.
