UPDATED: Thousands Lose Power in Novato, San Rafael Area Outage

An outage affected more than 4,000 people, PG&E reports. [BREAKING]

SAN RAFAEL, CA – A power outage in Marin briefly left more than 4,300 people without power Thursday afternoon, utility officials report.

According to the PG&E Outage Center, the outage started at 2:38 p.m. north of San Rafael, in the Lucas Valley-Marinwood area. As of 3 p.m., 4,364 customers were without power. However, but 4:30 p.m., power had been restored to all but about 400.

PG&E officials tell Patch that the upper part of a power pole near the intersection of Nave and Bolling drives in Novato was broken and is being repaired. It's not clear how it broke.
