Marin County Hosting TRUTH Act Forum

The community forum on Dec. 6 will be about the TRUTH Act and the access local governments may provide to federal immigration agents.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Marin County residents are invited to participate in a community forum about a new California law called the TRUTH Act and the access local governments may provide to federal immigration agents.

The forum is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Board of Supervisors chamber, Suite 330, of the Marin County Civic Center. Although the county government is hosting the meeting and Board President Damon Connolly will serve as moderator, the board will take no action on the matter.

The TRUTH Act's longer name is the Transparent Review of Unjust Transfers and Holds Act. It pertains to the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency and its access to individuals who have come in contact with law enforcement during the 2017 calendar year. Gov. Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 2792 into law on Sept. 28, 2016.

The meeting will be livestreamed on the county's website and broadcast live on Comcast Channel 27 for Comcast and AT&T U-Verse subscribers. Translation in Spanish will be provided for those in attendance, and personal sound receivers will be available for the hearing impaired.
