Fully-restored and berthed at Jack London Square, the 165-foot USS Potomac was chosen to be the Presidential Yacht and served President Franklin Roosevelt from 1936 to 1945, during turbulent times in American and world history. She was used as his recreational escape from the White House, for entertaining international dignitaries and for official government business, thus gaining the nickname - the Floating White House. Learn more about the USS Potomac from Docent Elizabeth Hannon of the USS Potomac Association.
