Woman Arrested For Stabbing Death At Marin County Encampment: Police
The suspect confessed to the fatal assault on another woman within the encampment, police said.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — Police have arrested a 31-year-old woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old woman over the weekend at an encampment in San Rafael.
Leslieli Violani Ilolahia, 31, was taken into custody on Sunday, just over 24 hours after the woman was found dead, police said. Officers said they located Ilolahia a few blocks from the original crime scene on Andersen Drive.
The investigation began on Saturday around 6:15 p.m., when San Rafael police officers responded to a report of a woman who had been stabbed on Andersen Drive.

Police said they found the 28-year-old victim with stab wounds and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The stabbing occurred at a unhoused encampment on Andersen Drive, separate from the city's sanctioned camping area on Mahone Path, police said.

During an interview with investigators, Ilolahia admitted to the stabbing, according to the San Rafael Police Department.
The motive for the attack remains under investigation, police said.
Detectives executed a search warrant for Ilolahia’s living area within the encampment and said they found evidence further connecting her to the crime.
Ilolahia has been booked into the Marin County Jail on charges of homicide.
