Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash On Highway 101 Identified
CHP officers found the woman's body in the slow lane of northbound Highway 101, just north of the Interstate 580 transition ramp in Marin.

MARIN COUNTY, CA – Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed Sunday in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in Marin County. Ellen Alexandra Scott, 46, of San Rafael, was apparently struck by a vehicle on northbound Highway 101, just north of the Interstate 580 transition ramp, according to officials from the California Highway Patrol and Marin County Sheriff's Office-Coroner Division.
CHP officers found the woman unconscious and unresponsive around 6 a.m. in the slow lane of Highway 101. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the CHP, evidence at the scene suggested Scott had been struck by a vehicle, which failed to stop.

"At this time we do not have any preliminary information to distribute regarding the suspect vehicle," CHP Officer Andrew Barclay said in a statement Sunday. "We are working to follow up with any possible witnesses and are checking the area for any cameras or other recording devices that may have captured this event."
The official cause and manner of death were pending a post-mortem exam, toxicology results and the conclusion of the investigation by CHP.

"The Marin County Sheriff's Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Scott," Chief Deputy Coroner Roger G. Fielding said in a statement.
